On June 28, 2017, Rosa Pérez Prado died at the age of 37, after being attacked by fellow bus drivers in the city of Santa Cruz (Mendoza 2017). The attack followed a growing amount of discontent among passengers and drivers due to the lack of organization with the operation of trufis, as well as with the leadership of the Departmental Federation of Transport of Trufis (Rojas and Ruiz 2017). In the aftermath of the attack, Prado was transported to a Clinic in Plan Tres Mil, but due to the severity of her injuries she died, leaving behind four children (Mendoza 2017).

At the end of the day Monday, June 26, 2017, the incident is reported to have precipitated as a result of changes in the trufi lines, with a driver reporting that representatives of Traffic and Transport had initially stated that line 47 was to be second in line in a meeting that had taken place the week before on June 23. The following Monday, different representatives of Traffic and Transport had placed them to be the last in line (Mendoza 2017). It is reported that the disagreement between the representatives of line 47 and the Traffic and Transport representatives quickly turned physical and lead to the attack of Rosa Pérez Prado, hereafter Prado, who worked in line 47.

The investigation that followed established Prado to have been attacked by a group of five individuals, Saúl B. R., Victoria G. R, Juani N.J., Albera López Fernandez, and an unidentified fifth suspect. Post-mortem findings establish that as a result of the assault, Prado sustained multiple injuries, having broken ribs, a perforated lung, and a fatal skull fracture which resulted in a brain hemorrhage (Mendoza 2017). On June 29, the Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz reported that it had the four individuals in custody and identified a fifth suspect responsible for Prado’s death. (Mendoza 2017). The sentences of the perpetrators are unknown.
